Due to the development needs of scientific research business, according to the decision by institute council of Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology (SIMIT), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), now we start the open recruitment of the director of Key Laboratory of Terahertz Solid-State Technology (KLTSST), CAS, to domestic and foreign applicant.
1. About us
SIMIT, formerly known as Shanghai Institute of Metallurgy, was founded in 1928 and named as the National Research Institute of Engineering, Academia Sinica. It’s one of the earliest national engineering research institutes in China. Currently SIMIT has several important research laboratories or engineering centers, including the State Key Laboratory of Transducer Technology, the State Key laboratory of functional materials for informatics, KLTSST (CAS), the key laboratory of wireless sensor network and communication, CAS and the Center for Excellence in Superconducting Electronics, CAS. In view of the new policy of CAS, SIMIT takes aim at the cutting edge technology, at the major needs of our country, and at the national economy. It focuses on the disciplines of electronic science and technology, and information and communication engineering. Meanwhile, it aims to construct a comprehensive institute with irreplaceable status in the relevant disciplines and with "first-rank achievements, first-rank benefits, first-rank management and first-rank talents".
SIMIT started the terahertz (THz) related researches since 1990, and is one of the earliest institutes who take researches in THz solid-state electronics and photonics. In December of 2010, the KLTSST was founded in SIMIT. This laboratory dedicates to researches of solid-state THz technologies through both the electronic and photonic ways. In the field of photonics, we have carried out theory and experimental study of THz radiation source and detector; have developed THz radiation-induced interband impact ionization model; have overcame the difficulty of correctly explaining the absorption under strong THz radiation; and was the first to make the THz quantum cascade lasers and THz quantum well detectors in China. In the field of electronics, we have carried out research works on millimeter-wave monolithic integrated circuits and systems, and have developed millimeter-wave/THz security imaging system. The laboratory has excellent research and office environment, as well as a complete manufacture and characterization platform for THz solid-state devices. Meanwhile, the laboratory has hosted a number of high-level research projects funded by Ministry of Science and Technology of China, National Natural Science Foundation of China and Shanghai government. We have also hosted several international conferences in THz field, and established a good international cooperation relationship with foreign research groups.
During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, KLTSST will continues the research works on semiconductor terahertz solid-state radiation sources, detectors, terahertz solid-state frequency multipliers, terahertz communication system and terahertz imaging system. We will dedicate to cutting-edge researches in order to meet national strategic needs, to make contributions for the sustainable development of China’s economic and society, and to further enhance our academic status and influence at home and abroad.
2. Position responsibilities
The Director should make and operate long-term development planning of the laboratory according to the research goal in SIMIT’s “One-Three-Five” Plan and obeying 《rules for executing the key laboratory of CAS》 and the regulations in SIMIT;
The Director should attract and cultivate talents and young researchers, format innovative research group with distinctive research content and strong competitive strength, encourage the integration of research directions inside the laboratory and achieve international leading research accomplishments;
The Director should strengthen the management of this laboratory, plan and strive for national major projects or international cooperation scientific research projects, promote and carry out international academic exchanges, and enhance our academic status and influence at home and abroad.
Strong research productivity in solid-state THz technology, broad strategic vision, with accurately grasp of the development trends of this discipline, has experience as project leader in major scientific research projects, and has made international impact research results;
Has excellent ability in academic leadership and research group management, could attract talents at this discipline, and could establish a wide range of international cooperation and exchange channels;
Ph.D. in relevant majors, experience in senior level research position (professor or senior researcher) in well-known universities, research institutes or enterprises.
